Here’s the scoop on today.
Les sciences humaines 7B – We reviewed the social norms of Ancient Athens and a little bit of Sparta. We discussed the project that is due Thursday, February 14. All the students should have their rough drafts and a sheet for their good copy. We then began categorizing some of the economic activities during a typical day in Athens.
FLA 7C – We reviewed and went through the criteria we developed for a healthy lifestyle the students compiled on Friday. I put together a survey type document we will be using for the next few classes. It forces us to look at our own daily habits then identify our strengths and weaknesses.
Les sciences humaines 7A – We reviewed the social norms and the government structure. We then completed some mock Athenian assemblies using some of the laws developed by 5 students. The ideas produced much more discussion than I had anticipated but I can say that the students have shown a good understanding of how the system worked in Ancient Athens. We will be putting together an in-class assignment modeled after our mock assemblies for the students to show their understanding and organize it on paper.
Les mathématiques 7C – We continued the problem solving session with Mr. McCourt today. The students were able to assist in putting together a student guide for math problem solving that will be used during the remainder of the year and in their grade 8 and 9 math classes.
